Daniel Stone

Principal Hydrogeologist, Ph.D.

Dr. Stone is a geophysicist with more than 30 years of experience in applied hydrogeology. His areas of expertise include the following: baseline hydrogeologic evaluations; the design and development of water-supply, dewatering, water-control, and water-disposal systems for both underground and open-pit mining operations; hydrogeologic assessments to support scoping, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies; assessments/predictions of pore pressures in open-pit highwalls; water resources studies for environmental impact analyses; numerical modeling of groundwater flow and chemical transport for water quantity/quality predictions; and assessments of glacier mass balance and subglacial water flow.

Dr. Stone’s mining work has included technical studies for planning, feasibility, engineering-design, permitting, mitigation/remediation, and closure projects, as well as for due diligence assessments and third-party contractor reviews/environmental impact study (EIS) preparation for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) studies.

He has worked internationally on mining projects in Australia, Canada, Ecuador, Mexico, and Russia. His experience also includes litigation support, public testimony, and expert reports.
